Why treatment of periodontal disease could save your life.  According to research, the harmful bacteria responsible for causing periodontal disease can also get into the bloodstream and release factors which may contribute to chronic illness of many body systems.

People with diabetes are at a higher risk of developing problems related to periodontal disease and it is harder to fight gum infections once they do develop. Blood sugar can be more challenging to control.

Gum disease even has an impact on infants.
